"Look Out Cancer, Here I Come!" Author to Speak at Free Conference/Dinner
HACKENSACK, N.J., Oct. 28, 2008—Get ready to knock the wind out of cancer when noted author, cancer survivor, and “Cancer Coach” Sharon Lee Parker comes to the John Theurer Cancer Center on November 19 to keynote a free conference/dinner called “Understanding the Design and Impact of Clinical Trials.”
Parker, the author of “Look Out Cancer, Here I Come!” will teach the audience how to “Become a Part of a Healing Team: How to Beat the Odds and Come Out a Winner.” The conference, which is open to the public, will take place at Hackensack University Medical Center’s Hekemian Conference Center on November 19 from 5 to 9 p.m.
“The conference will feature some of the world’s experts in blood cancers and breast cancer, who practice at the John Theurer Cancer Center,” says Andrew L. Pecora, M.D., chairman and executive administrative director. “Their presentations will spotlight some of the advanced clinical research being conducted at the Cancer Center.”
Topics include:
- “Clinical Trials and New Options in Aggressive Lymphomas” by Andre Goy, M.D., M.S., deputy director of the John Theurer Cancer Center; chief of the Division of Lymphoma; and director of clinical and translational clinical cancer research;
- “Low-Grade Lymphoma, T-Cell Lymphomas” by Tatyana Feldman, M.D., Division of Lymphoma;
- “New Insights in Bone Marrow Transplantation” by Scott Rowley, M.D., director of the Adult Blood and Marrow Stem Cell Transplantation Program”;
- “Update on Multiple Myeloma” by Nikoletta Lendvai, M.D., Division of Multiple Myeloma;
- “Leukemia: Novel Therapies” by Stuart Goldberg, M.D., chief of the Division of Leukemia; and
- “New Insights in Breast Cancer” by Stanley Waintraub, M.D., co-chief of the Division of Breast Oncology.
